The Divorce Announcement

In March 2014, the couple ended their 17-year marriage. Rhonda stated “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their separation in her divorce documents. They got married in 1997 and divorced in 2014, and they have three daughters together. Rhonda sought child support and alimony.

In June 2015, Trace’s attorney announced that the matter had been resolved following a private mediation meeting. The agreement addressed all matters concerning property and the custody of their children. Court documents disclosed that Rhonda made an attempt to invalidate the mediation agreement several months later. The trial took place in April 2016.

Legal Proceedings and Settlement

In January 2017, the court issued a “very detailed and extensive” order that confirmed the validity of the mediation agreement and declared that both parties were officially single. The court observed that Ronda “simply did not agree with the court’s decision.” “For several months, the wife submitted numerous pleadings in an ongoing effort to challenge the court’s factual findings and legal conclusions, citing various reasons to disregard them.” Rhonda also filed motions to overturn the court’s order and to seek the judge’s disqualification.

The judge stated that Rhonda’s claims in her motion asking for his removal from the case were “not only disjointed and confusing, but also had no factual basis for this court to recuse itself…” Rhonda appealed this decision to the Tennessee Supreme Court in June 2017, but her petition was rejected.

The court noted that Rhonda was repeatedly bringing up the same issues in an effort to further delay the case. In 2018, Trace received $533,000 in legal fees.
