Finding Peace in the Country Life
Prince William and Kate Middleton are celebrating their anniversary somewhere they feel totally relaxed.
Starting April 29, they’re heading to an island northwest of Scotland for two days. This spot is special to them as it’s where their romance blossomed, matching the anniversary of their wedding back in 2011.
Royal experts shared with Fox News Digital that this place holds deep meaning for the couple. They’ve found peace in country life while quietly preparing for their future roles as king and queen. William, who’s 42, is next in line.
British royal expert Hilary Fordwich mentioned that they’ll stay on the Isle of Mull, close to the Scottish coast, and spend their anniversary night at a vacation cottage where they’ll make their own meals.
Fordwich said this choice of a cozy cottage rather than a fancy hotel reflects their relationship. It’s simple and real, showing how they prefer a low-key lifestyle that highlights togetherness and ties to rural life. Their bond with Scotland goes way back to their college days when they were just friends.
Fordwich also pointed out that since Kate shared her good news about being cancer-free this year, William has been showering her with love and support. Their time in the countryside, away from royal duties, has been really important for their relationship.
The Great Outdoors is the Key to Happiness
William’s been enjoying intimate dinners, long walks, and their shared love for the great outdoors. He referred to Kate as his “second chance” after showing how serious and diplomatic he can be on the world stage. Fordwich said they lift each other up while they’re in the countryside, which some even call “therapy for their marriage.” Instead of letting challenges pull them apart, they use them to come closer together. Their strong commitment to family is helping secure a bright future for the monarchy.
The couple first met at the University of St. Andrews in 2005 while studying art history. Known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland, they had a bit of a rollercoaster romance during their four years at university.
William and Kate have openly talked about their love for outdoor activities before. In a 2020 podcast, Kate shared that her favorite family moments happen “in the countryside, where we all get wonderfully muddy.”
Earlier this year, William talked about his love for the countryside and farming with some young farmers in Scotland.
In February, Kate visited Pant Farm, a goat farm near Abergavenny in South Wales, that’s been providing milk for a local cheese maker for nearly two decades. She had some fun interacting with the goats there.
As reported, the couple plans to work with their Royal Foundation and the local community to improve two spaces on Mull that have roots in agriculture and fishing. They’re also going to check out a local farm to learn about sustainable farming practices. The next day, they’ll be spending time with local schoolkids for some outdoor educational activities.
