NSFC was founded in 1966 and is comprised of over 60 critics hailing from outlets nationally. These journalists mark their annual voting selections for categories such as best picture, director, actor, actress, supporting actor and actress, screenplay and cinematography. Voting is processed through a weighted ballot system which has critics vote for their top 3 picks. The nominee that garners the most points and is listed on the most ballots wins.
