Stars whose homes have burned down

Celebrities such as Crystal and his spouse, Janice, were reminiscing about the homes they had to leave behind.

The Crystals have lost their home in the Pacific Palisades area, where they had lived for 45 years. “Janice and I have been in this house since 1979, raising our children and grandchildren here. Every part of our home was filled with love and beautiful memories that can never be erased. We are obviously heartbroken, but with the support of our children and friends, we will manage to overcome this,” the Crystals stated.

After discovering that her home in Pacific Palisades had been destroyed in the fires, Melissa Rivers expressed gratitude for her family’s safety but felt heartbroken over “losing parts of my family’s history.” She mentioned that she managed to recover a few sentimental belongings, such as her mother Joan’s Emmy award and a picture of her father.

Mandy Moore’s residence in the Altadena area, about 30 miles east of the Palisades, has suffered significant damage and is no longer habitable. However, she mentioned on Thursday, after inspecting the property, that “the main part of our house is still intact.” A studio utilized by her husband and his brother, both of whom are part of the band Dawes, was completely destroyed, leading to the loss of “every instrument and piece of equipment they’ve ever had. … Everyone we know has lost everything.”

According to his publicist, Jeff Bridges and his siblings lost their family home in Malibu to the wildfires. The house, located along the Pacific Coast Highway, was previously owned by their parents and was not the siblings’ primary residence.

Grammy-nominated R&B artist Jhené Aiko revealed that she lost her home in the wildfires near Los Angeles. On Instagram Thursday, she posted, “My home with my children has been completely destroyed, burned down along with all of our belongings. Lord have mercy. I am grateful that we still have each other.”

On Wednesday, Hilton shared a news video on Instagram featuring images of her ruined home in Malibu. She expressed, “This house is where we created countless cherished memories. It’s where Phoenix took his first steps and where we envisioned building a lifetime of memories with London,” referring to her young children.

Cary Elwes, the lead actor from “The Princess Bride” and various other movies, announced on Instagram on Wednesday that while his family is unharmed, their house was destroyed in the coastal Palisades fire. He expressed his sorrow over losing their home but thanked his lucky stars for surviving the incredibly destructive fire.

Relief Efforts

Jamie Lee Curtis, along with a group from the Grammys, has committed $1 million towards relief efforts. After evacuating due to the Palisades fire, Curtis announced that she and her family will establish a “support fund” for individuals impacted by the fires in the Los Angeles area.

The actor made the announcement on Instagram on Thursday. The night before, she made an emotional appearance on “The Tonight Show,” where she encouraged others to support communities impacted by the fires.

Curtis stated, “As you are aware, the area where I reside is currently ablaze. This is my actual neighborhood; it includes the market I frequent, the schools my children attend, and numerous friends—many of whom have unfortunately lost their homes.”

The Academy Award winner mentioned that she had communicated with local and state officials regarding the best way to allocate the funds for maximum effect.

The Recording Academy, known for presenting the Grammy Awards, and its MusiCares charity have committed $1 million to support musicians impacted by the fires.
